Introduction to QuickBooks – Setting Up a New Company

In this class we will simplify your understanding of QuickBooks by teaching how to create an “instructional company” so our highly experienced Certified Instructors can guide you through the functions from beginning to end. The initial “set up” of your company is the most crucial part to making QuickBooks work for you.

Navigating QuickBooks – How to Find Your Way Around Company Data

Everyone works differently and that is why QuickBooks has many features such as: The “Navigator Map”. As soon as your company opens in QuickBooks, the navigator map will help you perform your daily operations in the right order. You may want to use Open Window List, Icon Bars, Menus, and Short Cut List. We will show you the advantages of all these functions. Ever get stuck on what to do next? QuickBooks has an excellent “Help” menu that will walk you through the toughest times. When you use the Easy Step Interview to create a new QuickBooks company, QuickBooks asks you questions about the type of business you own. It uses your answers to get you started quickly, by setting up the appropriate accounts and lists.

Working with Lists

A “list” is a group of Customers, Vendors, and Employees items or services you sell. There are a few other lists that can be created to help make organizing your entire daily, weekly, monthly task easier. By creating “list” and keeping them simple, you can use these lists time and time again. By entering a few short key strokes, you can bring up any contact correctly entered into your list.

Lists save you time and help you enter information consistently and correctly. When you’re filling out an invoice form and you select a customer name from the Customer: Job list, QuickBooks not only fills in the name but also fills in the address, the payment terms, and the customer’s sales tax, based on the information previously entered about that customer.
